Because I am Furniture (71- 140)

Summary:
In these pages of Because I am furniture by Thalia Chaltas, Anke writes about her father, her image and her friends. in the start of these pages she speaks about her father and his routine. He comes in, he shoves everything everywhere and then like nothing happened he leaves. This is his doing, this is how he expresses himeself. he comes in yelling at Yaicha then he leaves as swiftly as he came. She talks about her image and also her her feelings. When she was younger her grandmother had said to her "Nobody's going to buy you". Anke has brownish brown hair, a ponytail, a blemished Roman nose, a spagatti spotted tee, freakishly long legs and wooden earings from Yaichas trash. Yes according to that no one would buy her, but theres this guy you may sometime think about it. Kyler. He helped her when she was pushed in the hall, they have classes together and they like the same things, seems perfect, and maybe it will be one day. There is also interacttions with Angeline. In these pages Angeline continues to show her fondness for Anke's father. whenever he is around her mood is lightened and in a way so is his. He speaks to her and she to him but not like he would talk to his family, angry and mad, but friendly.

Quote:
"And i really think you can't read to someone like that without a little teeny bit of love." (pg 102)

Reaction:
In these pages Anke thinks back to when her father would read to her. When she was young he would read to her at night and even have a voice to match the characters, but now he is just there, in the house causing problems and seperation between the family. In this quote she ponders about how he could do that then and not show acts of love now?, how did he change?

Because I am Furniture pgs -1-70

Summary: In these pages of the novel we are introduced to mot of the characters. We meet the family, that includes Anke, the main character who was named after her mother, her sister Yaicha who was named after a song (pousette-dart band), her brother Darren named after a dead dead friend of thier parents, the father and the mother Anne. Then we meet some other characters that include friends like the coach, Roy, of the volley ball team, Angeline a family friend, Rona a tenth grader and Jed a senior. In the first pages we enter t he daily routine of this family. "When the garage door goes up he's home. We close up conversation and scuttle off like crabs each to our room-- Shut the door. Shut the door.Shut the door."(pg.4) Then later we enter more into Anke's social life. we find out that she has started to play on the volley ball team and made, she has a friend Rona who is one grade above her who she met within Volleyball and we find out that she has a senior firend, Jed, who she sleeps on the coach with after school and at times kisses. A more inner family social life involves the problems with her siblings and opinion of her family. Like when she makes a photo album with no pictures of her siblings or father and only pictures of her mother and her.

Quote: ""there are only pictures of you and mom!"(sister says) and i say to myself, Exactly." pg 66

Reaction: This quote shows how Anke has a closer relationship to her mother than everyone else in the house. She isn't exactly close to her mother but out of all her family thats who she prefers. Her sister and brother think Anke is a waste of space her father is a hyprocrite and her mother at times can be good to her.
