Summary: In this part of the novel Anke gets the surprise of her life as Kyler askes her out! He flashes her a grin, rubs a hand down his sleeve and speaks. "I was wondering if you were going to the harvest dance." well he kind of asked her out. She was nervous just like him and she panicked. She said she was going to go in a group with Rona because she didn't think she could just dance with one person all night. At the dance when they were finally dancing together something happened. They were both dancing, both of them excited, then anke feels something on her hip and they both pull back a little, both embarrassed.
Something else that happens is that Darren for the first time was watching Anke practice, though when she acknowledges him he leaves, so swiftly it was like he was never there. there is also more to this fraction of the story involing her father. after catching Yaicha, the sister, reading Cosmo, the father hit Yaicha across the face. With all that happens Anke steps into thought. Why doesn't her mother do anything, why doesn't somebody say something. Then she realizes that they choose not to anything, none of them.
